SAM COE REVEALED
Behind Closed Doors caught
up with defensive maestro Sam Coe. Sam played every minute of BUSA
Football for the fourth team before flying to Canada on a year out in
2008. He is a quality defender who can play at right-back, centre-half or
even centre-mid! In this feature Mr Coe reveals the highlights from his footballing
career and his views on the football world...
Can you tell me
about your time at Loughborough, highlights and lowlights...
Highlights are definitely pre-season, that was a lot of fun, another
highlight was playing every minute of every game before I crossed the
pond.
Can you shed any light on your footy career outside of Loughborough?
Limited career for a local club, pretty shoddy really.
What is the highest achievement in your career so far?
County representation
And which is your most memorable game for Loughborough?
4`s vs UEA because I scored two, including an underside of the bar 25
yard screamer – did we ever get that on tape?!
Who are your best friends in LSAFC?
Joel Speight, Peteman and Osei.
Have you any funny tales that you can tell us?
Not so much funny as just downright atrocious, the taste of music in the
4’s is beyond a joke, i’ve never heard worse music before a game in my
life. The worst culprit was easily Reece Jacobs, absolutely shocking, i’m
pretty sure there was some ABBA and Spice Girls in there.
Which
team do you support?
Man
Utd
Who is your childhood/teenage hero and why?
Fireman Sam for obvious reasons, anyone that can pull off a pair of yellow
trousers commands my respect.....My teenage idol was The Rock, he has the
ability to lay the smackdown in a matter of seconds and he can select his
eyebrows individually which is something only a few of us can do....Will
Smith was/is a hero of mine, just the man personifies cool. Football wise
David Beckham’s always been the man, he has to deal with people in his
face 24/7 and I have respect for how he keeps going about business even
when people try and trip him up every step of the way.
What three items would you take to a desert island and why?
I’d take a Sheldon style radio hat but it would be equipped with ipod dock
so i could listen to my music whilst also taking refuge from the sun, it
would also secrete sun tan lotion and water at pre-programmed intervals, I
would take a laptop with mobile ‘interweb’ capabilities, so I could check
the football, basketball, tennis and golf happenings, I’d also take a
football with me to just mess around with, that will never get old.
Are there any youngsters we should look out for coming through the
ranks?
I’m a fan of both Sam Joseph and Alex Attfield if that’s how you spell it.
Klaudio Petoshi has impressed me throughout the season he just needs to
sweat a little less.

Who has the most bant in the whole club?
I don’t like the word ‘bant’ but i’m gonna go with anyone other than the
Sheldons.
What is currently playing on your ipod?
Jordin Sparks feat Chris Brown – No air.
In a film about your life, who would play you, and why?
Ricky Gervais because he’s really sarcastic but he’s goofy like me too
What’s your preference between these street cred benchmarks:
Master Chef or Ready Steady Cook? Ready Steady Cook.
Pat Butcher or Pauline Fowler? Pat Butcher.
James Sheldon or Adam Sheldon? Adam!
Peteman’s Espadrilles or Murphy’s Daps? Peteman`s, espadrilles.
Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton? Obama!
Pint or girlie bottle? Neither, I’d have a Coke.
The Beatles or the Rolling Stones? The Beatles.
Lastly, what does the future hold for your football career? Do you have
a message for the lads at LSAFC?
Will hopefully play for the club next year, if not then good luck to
everyone, make sure you support everyone regardless of what team they’re
in because we’re all one club!
Team Is All.
A huge thanks to Sam for this article.
Thank you for all your help, looking forward to having you back next year
bud!
