LAWRANCE HUNTER REVEALED
Behind Closed Doors caught
up with the new lad Lawrance Hunter. Loz has had an impressive start to
life with LSAFC. He is a quality left-sided player who will be pressing
the first team this year. In this feature Mr Hunter reveals the highlights from his footballing
career and his views on the football world...

Can you tell me about your time at Loughborough, highlights and
lowlights...
So Far, highlights have been playing in the 1st team, joining powerbase,
meeting new and interesting people at the Uni and in the football team,
and the Student Union.
Lowlights, probably missing a two yarder in training the other week, and
that’s about it so far lets hope it stays that way!!
Can you shed any light on your footy career outside of Loughborough?
I was at Barnsley Town academy when I was 13 till I was 15. Then spent,
nearly a season with Middlesbrough. I then signed with Leicester City as a
part-time YT, then last season spent half a season with York City, then
the other half with Rotherham United. And lastly spent this past
pre-season with Halifax Towns 1st team.
What is the highest achievement in your career so far?
Playing against Oldham Athletic which was my first 1st team game and
training with the 1st team at Leicester City.
And which is your most memorable game for Loughborough?
Warwick which was my debut, so far hopefully as have a few more by the end
of the season.
Who are your best friends in LSAFC (not including Nick Drew)?
Peteman because he's a legend! I get on with all the lads but then if I
had to push it, probably John-Quiqley because he’s on my course and a top
lad, also Webby because he’s another great lad and someone you can relay
on, Stevo who’s a great gym partner and Noel and Carsten as their fellow
northerners and are great laughs!!!
Have you any funny
tales that you can tell us?
Not that I know off the top of my head….am sure all have some for you by
the end of the season.
Which team do you support?
Sheffield Wednesday, despite most my family are blade-ites
Who is your childhood/teenage hero and why?
Erm I'd would probably have to say Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham,
because they are both great players and both great to watch. You cant
watch Zidane without the expectation that he’ll do something unbelievable,
like scoring a goal in the dying seconds that wins a game or a piece of
skill that leaves everyone in the stadium in applause.
Outside of Football I’d have to say Jonny Wilkinson because the man is
simply a legend and a winner. Also Lance Armstrong seen as though he beat
Brain, Lung and Testicular Cancer and won the Tour De France 7 times, he’s
a true legend!!!

What three items would you take to a desert island and why?
A Football, an I-Pod, a Flare-Gun. The 1st two would be to keep me
occupied and the flare-gun to help me escape If I needed to, well
hopefully if a plane flies past.
Are there any youngsters we should look out for coming through the
ranks?
At Loughborough.....I dunno I might be able to answer that in a few more
months. I do know a few from other clubs that I know, a lad called Josh
Walker who’s at Middlesbrough at the moment and Ryan Taylor who’s at
Rotherham United, is that alright???
Who has the most bant in the whole club?
There’s a lot of good and bad banter about the place which is always good
laughs, but I’d have to say the most comes from Leon, without a shadow,
and also the whole of the 2nd team have some good banter as well!!!! And
Gibbo as well likes to have a lot of banter, even though he’s a fresher.
Current over-used saying, e.g. ‘unbelievable scenes’ or ‘pound for
pound’:
That’s a tough one…….erm…..id have to say ‘EASY EASY’ but then again even
though it’s over-used its still hilarious at the right times.
In a film about your life, who would play you, and why?
Johnny Depp, simply because he can play any role in any film, and id have
to say I am a complicated person to be so that would suit him good. Also
he would boost my looks and my image as well, which aint a bad thing.
What’s your preference between these street cred benchmarks:
Lost or Prison Break? Don’t really watch these programmes but id
have to say Lost.
Pat Butcher or Pauline Fowler? neither
Prada shoes or my granddad sandles? Granddad sandals of course
Peter Crouch or Michael Owen? Michael Owen
Russ Noble or Andy Noble? both
Pint or girlie bottle? Pint, but on most occasions neither
Eddie Izzard or Jimmy Carr? Jimmy Carr, but for me Peter Kay’s the
main man.
Lastly, what does the future hold for your football career? Do you have
a message for the lads at LSAFC?
I’ll just take every game as it comes and just hope for the best, and keep
working hard as usual. A message, erm….see you next training session!!!???
A huge thanks to Lozz for this article.
Thank you for all your help, welcome to Loughborough!
