GRAEME ANDREWS REVEALED

Behind Closed Doors caught up with BUSA winning captain Graeme Andrews for an insight into the life of the midfielder-defender. He reveals the highlights from his footballing career and his views on the football world...

Can you tell me about your time at Loughborough, highlights and lowlights...
It seems like I've been here forever, but I am going to miss the place. Football has certainly been my highlight throughout my time here with the perfect send off in winning BUSA and being captain. Lifting the trophy has been the biggest highlight of my Loughborough football career, the best feeling, shame its only the captain that gets it!! Lowlight has to be not playing in my previous 2 BUSA finals. Last year through not getting in the team and the year before through injury.

Can you shed any light on your footy career outside of Loughborough?

I played for Charlton Athletic from 9-15 but left before I was booted out. From then nothing much to note until I came to Lboro.

What is the highest achievement in your career so far?
Got to be winning 3 BUSA golds.

And which is your most memorable game for Loughborough?

It would be the final if it wasn’t the dullest game of football I have ever played in!!! So for the Dolly heroics and Steely heading the ball back on the pitch it has to be the Leeds met game, never gonna forget thinking that we were destined to win it.

Who is your best friend in LSAFC (not including Nick Drew)?
I think we all bonded as a team this year but I think people I have played with for a number of years like Miller, Kettle and Windy are cracking guys. New faces to me such as Dolly and Crouchy have also been good for a laugh. Oh and Seb Maidstone got to stick together!! Cant be bothered to give Dougie and Rhys special mentions.

Have you any funny tales that you can tell us?
Windy, Crouchy and Gandrews!
I don’t do humour too well

Which team do you support?

Charlton – Come on Dowie!!

Who is your childhood hero and why?

I always looked up to Gary Lineker when I was younger, think it was the ears that made me feel at ease!

What three items would you take to a desert island and why?
Tom Hanks – He was pretty good at getting food together in Castaway
Chicken Fajita mix – I cant live without it
Mobile phone – Got to keep in touch with the world!!

Who has the most bant in the whole club?
Kettle???

When people say in football ‘play in the hole’, can you tell me where that is?
Steve McManaman used to do it superbly with Robbie Fowler up the front
.

What’s your preference between these street cred benchmarks:

Lost or Prison Break? Lost

Pat Butcher or Pauline Fowler? Butcher

Prada shoes or my granddad sandles? Prada
Peter Crouch or Michael Owen? Crouch

Russ Noble or Andy Noble? Andy

Pint or girlie bottle? Pint

Eddie Izzard or Jimmy Carr? Jimmy Carr

Lastly, what does the future hold for your football career? Do you have a message for the lads at LSAFC?
I wish the boys every success in the future and I hope they continue what has become a tradition of winning BUSA. I'm going back to the lowly leagues Kent League football so I hope u all enjoy the facilities while u still have them. I will certainly miss them!!

A huge thanks to Gandrews for this article.
