Can you tell me about your time at Loughborough, highlights and
lowlights... what squads you are in etc?Played for the 4s in my first year, was in between the 1s and 2s last year and have played for the 1s all this season. Highlight was last years BUSA final (abusing the Swansea fans) and lowlight was losing in the semis to Bath for the 2s.
Can you shed any light on your footy career outside of Loughborough?
Was at Brighton and Hove Albion from the age of 10-19 until being released after doing a 3rd year YTS. Captained Sussex FA under 18s and currently playing for Littlehampton Town in the Sussex County League.
What is the highest achievement in your career so far?
Playing at Villa Park in the FA Youth Cup ¼ finals against their winning team: Davis, Whittingham, Ridgewell and the Moore brothers was pretty special – and we should have won.
And which is your most memorable game for Loughborough?
Losing at John Moores in the first year sticks in the mind as it made me realise just how big BUSA is. The last two games this season have been pretty exciting too!
Who was your best friend in LSAFC (Not including Nick Drew)?
All of the 2s squad from last year were pretty close – Drew, Jase, Moggy and the Rhys’s. Must give a special mention to Bucky and Spaniard who were both legends in my first 2 years here.
Have you any funny tales that you can tell us?
Plenty of funny tales – mainly from the footy balls. The 3rd teams songs are usually a particular highlight.
Which team do you support?
Brighton all the way, although we are struggling massively at the moment.
Who is your childhood hero and why?
Only got one – Eric Cantona. What a legend, he had it all and did something outstanding in every game he played. A true genius – shoddy actor though.
How do you think England will fair in the world cup this summer? Who is your tip to win it?
Average, Eriksson usually finds a way to ruin our campaigns with negative tactics. The usual ¼ or ½ finals is realistic. I fancy Argentina to win it.
Can you tell me something unusual about your past?
I hold the record for missing the last penalty in the longest shootout in FA Cup history (6 off the world record!) . I missed the 40th penno in the 2nd qualifying round this year for Littlehampton – I scored my first! Their keeper said it was a “lucky save” in his Radio 5 interview!
Who has the best and worst hair cuts at the club?
That’s easy, Callum has the best hair by far – don’t know why he always wears a hat. Rhys’ highlighted mullet from last year was pretty horrendous but he seems to have sorted it out now.
What is currently playing on your CD player?
Listening to a lot of post-hardcore at the moment: Alexisonfire, Glassjaw, The Used and Smashing Pumpkins. I like my music loud.
Which three players have the most ‘chav’ status?
Telfer is the easy target as he is a Loughborough local, but I reckon our scousers Jimmy and Thommo like a pair of Reebok classics
Lastly, what does the future hold for your football career? Do you have a message for the lads at LSAFC?
BUSA medal this year – can’t leave Loughborough without one. Other than that I’m not really sure, just going to keep playing until I stop enjoying it.
