GLENN STEEL REVEALED

Behind Closed Doors caught up with first teamer Glenn Steel for an insight into the life of the Faraday hero. He reveals the highlights from his time with us and his views on the football world...

CSteely, Bono & friend with the ladiesan you tell me about your time at Loughborough, highlights and lowlights...
Although this is my first year playing for LSAFC I have been at Lboro for five years now.

Can you shed any light on your footy career outside of Loughborough?
My Footy Career, what footy career? Well I suppose it started at PNE at U10’s right through to U16’s when I was bombed off, played locally for a while and was scouted for Bamber Bridge 4 years ago, played for them at Unibond Level ever since, starting this season as captain in a very young side.

What is the highest achievement in your career so far?
Cub Football Cup and League double representing Broughton ‘B’ Pack of the Preston District.

And which is your most memorable game for Loughborough?
Nottingham Trent away win 0-1. Will always stick in my mind, not because the game was good (it was shit, possibly the worst I’ve ever played in) but more so because the referee was the biggest muppet in the world!

Who is your best friend in LSAFC (not including Nick Drew)?
Steelios in action
Don’t have many friends, infact I can’t think of anyone in LSAFC who likes me? Can you?

Well there was that one guy, but I think that was Nick Drew.
Have you any funny tales that you can tell us?

I’m not a funny person really, but I suppose I could always tell a story of Chinese Whispers and see how it goes from here!

There was this guy called Liam, everybody at first called him Lee, but now we all just call him ‘The Sherminator’ because he looks like that guy off American Pie… You’ll see!

Which team do you support?

I don’t support anyone, just follow the beautiful game!

Who is your childhood hero and why?

I can’t think of any ONE person that stands out, but if I was a child now, it would have to be Ronaldhino, you will struggle to find a comparison anywhere for him!

What three items would you take to a desert island and why?
Jack the doctor, John the hunter and Kate (eye candy)… LOST anyone?

When people say in football ‘play in the hole’, can you tell me where that is?
Ask Seb

How do you think
England will fair in the world cup this summer? Who is your tip to win it?
England have a strong chance to win it, but will they really be able to stop Brazil, honestly?

Lastly, what does the future hold for your football career?
Hoping to make Sven’s squad but reckon I might have left it too late for a late surge now, ah well there is always Euro 2008.

A huge thanks to Steelios for this article.
