THE NOBLES REVEALED

Behind Closed Doors caught up with the Noble brothers, Russ and Andrew for an insight into the lives of Loughborough's version of the Neville brothers. Both reveal their highlights from their time with us  and their views on the football world...

(Answer code:
Russ - Andrew)

Can you tell me about your time at Loughborough, highlights and lowlights...
Being moved up to the 3s and getting bombed back down is a highlight/lowlight. Really enjoying the 4s this season though, we are in a strong position and beat the 3s the other day (showboat 4 where are you!) but everyone knew we would beat them anyway! Got a couple of mom this season as well which is a highlight.
Highlight was the first year when I won the Northern PASE league and league cup with the under 19s. Lowlight was when I got injured and lost my place in the team so couldn't play in the final.Andrew and Russ - the Noble brothers

Can you shed any light on your footy career outside of Loughborough?
Played for Havant & Waterlooville (Conference South) youth team. Currently signed on for my local side Clanfield for guaranteed games when I'm home more than the league they are in (10 leagues off premier!)
Last year on placement had the odd game for Ashford Town in Kent, then managed by Terry Fenwick (he ruined the team) and at home I currently play for Petersfield Town in the Wessex League 2.

What is the highest achievement in your career so far?
FA youth cup against Brentford was a good game. Played at home in front of some die hard H&W fans, which made a change of playing in front of just the parents! Got to last 16 of national cup for the local area team as well.
Our league and cup double in the first year at uni.

And which is your most memorable game for Loughborough?
Probably both games against Lincoln because they were my best 2 performances of the season so far.
Worcester City away in the semi final of the league cup in the first year. I bossed it from centre midfield, it went to extra time and penalties and we won!! Was that the game that Spaniard left his quality trainers at Cayley gates?!

Who is your best friend in LSAFC (not including Nick Drew)?
Jamie Martyn, Rutherford boys stick together!
Jack Harrison, I miss him loads because he lives at my house but he is never there!!!

Have you any funny tales that you can tell us?
Doddy vs Tom Phillips in a whose better looking contest on a hey ewe night out was pretty funny. I think Tom won about 7-1!
House wrestling is awesome! The boys say I get folded up all the time and that I am bottom of the house but it's not true.

Now your brother also plays in the football club… have you got any tales to tell us about him?
Hmmm not many suitable for here I'm afraid. We both tucked into the same bird one night which was quite funny (by accident!). Can't remember who was first though, we’ll say I was!
I taught him everything he knows. Yes, even that step-over he always uses.

There have been many famous brother double acts can you tell me which of these pairings you’re most like (unbelievably these were asked apart!!!):

a) The Neville’s: Phil or Gary?
Gary Phil
b) The Charlton’s: Jack or Bobby?
Jack Bobby
c) The Mitchell’s: Phil or Grant?
Phil Grant
d) The Chuckles: Paul or Barry?
Barry Paul

We're most like the Mitchell's as we're from POMPEY bit and well hard!!!

Barks’ tells me your dad is called ‘Noble Noble’ can you confirm or deny this rumour?
Yes, he is called Noble Dave Noble.  Sometimes Dave the Rave because he is sooo much fun!
He is known as ‘Dave the Rave’ back in Pompeyland.

Who is your childhood hero and why?
Michael Owen - I learned a lot of my movement watching him.
David Beckham because he is a legend.

When people say in football ‘play in the hole’, can you tell me where that is?
Look at Ronaldhinio’s position, or in the case of the 4s, Jamie Martyn’s or Jimmy’s.
Toad in the hole? Black hole? Hole in the ground? Not really sure to be honest.

How do you think England will fair in the world cup this summer? Who is your tip to win it?
Will probably be the same old story for England! Brazil got to be favourites.
Should do ok I think. Where's the motivation from the manager though when he knows he is leaving after the world cup!!? Brazil will win, fact.

Lastly, what does the future hold for your football career? Do you have a message for the lads at LSAFC?
At the moment got to make sure we get to knock outs with the 4s and put a good account of ourselves in the knock out games.
Football coaching in America this summer, the first half of next season for Petersfield and then footy will probably take a back seat when I go travelling.

A huge thanks to the Noble family for this article.
