DAVID KETTLE REVEALED
LSAFC Online caught up
with former Notts County pro and our current treasurer David Kettle to get an insight into his life and his views on the
football club...
Can you tell me about your time at Loughborough, highlights and
lowlights...
Currently in the 1st team, highlights are winning BUSA in my 1st year with
a great squad of lads and a top night out after it, as well as some great
hey ewes this year, lowlights are coming off in the final with an injury.
Can you shed any light on your footy career outside of Loughborough?
Played for Forest, Sheffield Utd, Derbyshire Schools and FA sides as a
kid, before going full time with Notts County.
What is the highest achievement in your career so far?
Well there's three on a par, winning Busa, winning the Midland youth
cup after scoring in the final, and being in the squad for Notts County vs
Middlesborough in the FA Cup. Seeing my name on the back of a shirt was
unbelievable. I'd worked all my life to get to that moment, warming up in
front of around 20,000 was immense and their dugouts have heaters....
warm!!! (just a pity I didn't get on, lol)
And which is your most memorable game for Loughborough?
Obviously the final, but I'll remember the away games, they're always
eventful... the penalty that never went in at Notts Trent, etc

Who was your best friend in LSAFC (not including Nick Drew)?
I'd like to think I'm good mates with all the 1st team boys and with all
the lads in the club as a whole, though I obviously know some lads a lot
more from last year, Phil.. Windy, Jack, Graeme etc
Have you any funny tales that you can tell us?
It used to be barks, but Chesney has taken over this year, with his
mix of southern banter and off the ball incidents.
Which team do you support?
Newcastle
Who is your childhood hero and why?
Ronaldo ( when he was good for Barca) because he's a flair player like
me.
How do you think England will fair in the world cup this summer? Who is
your tip to win it?
I think we'll get knocked out in the quarters - I'm a realist, we have
the individual talent to win, but we're not a good enough team - I can't
see past Brazil.
Lastly, what does the future hold for your football career?
This season I've been rubbish, 1st to admit I'm having the worlds longest
stinker (currently at 4 months and counting)....but I've just gotta get my
head down and turn it round with hard work.
A huge thanks to 'Kets' for this article.
