DALEY PALMER REVEALED

LSAFC Online caught up with former squad striker Daley Palmer to see how he's getting on after leaving Loughborough...

Daley in his primeCan you tell me about your time at Loughborough, highlights and lowlights... what squads you were in etc?

1st year: Freshers XI with a handful of 1st and 2nd team apps.
Highlight: getting wasted constantly, notable mention was being paired with fat Fabian on footy initiation night and eating and spewing 2-4-1 Guiness's.
Lowlight: none.

2nd year:
Highlight: 1st XI / 16 apps / 13 goals.
Lowlight: crashing out in the quarter finals away at Edinburgh, oh and too many 7am base sessions.

3rd year:
Highlight: even though it was my final year I still got mashed like a fresher.
Lowlight: tore my hamstring 3 days before pre-season, never regained match pace until after Christmas even after dedicated rehab, my season never really kicked off.

Can you shed any light on your footy career outside of Loughborough?

14-16 Norwich City, 16-18 Lowestoft Town, Loughborough Uni & Dynamo (before I made a controversial transfer to Thurnby Rangers with Brennan!), a brief spell at St Albans and Wealdstone in my placement year. Currently at Kirkley in the Ridgeons Premier.

What is the highest achievement in your career so far?
Well, unfortunately I never won BUSA! So it has to be playing for Chesterfield Ressies with most of the 1st team squad in 2002.

And which is your most memorable game for Loughborough?
Crewe and Alsager away, December 2002. It was Darren Robinson's last game as Director of Football, we needed to beat Crewe who were top of the table to put us top for Christmas. We were 1-0 up for most of the game and hanging on! We broke and I scored in the 80th min to secure the win. Big Love.

Who was your best friend in LSAFC (apart from Nick Drew)?

I can't name anyone in particular but the freaks worth a mention are: Jamie Norhidzamdencantspellhisname, Kev Blanchard, Tricky Dave Garcia, Jimbo, Abi OT, Daryl Selby, Barks, Gards, Windy, Brett, Kinder, Burraman, Micky, Carts, Franny, Brocks, Bousy, Bono, Birnie, Junior, Joel, Pelly and Leo.

Who's the joker in your side? Have you any funny tales that you can tell us?
Only one joker, perhaps a little bit psychopathic!! Maybe a few currents short of a bun!, who is on a diff level is Barks. The kid is crazy, he's been through more mobile phones than phones4u. One funny story was when Kinder, Buz, Barks, Windy and Gards were living it up in the Gables. They went out to Curryholics, Barks got up in the middle of all the curry eating holics and lamped Gards. The cabin fever was too much in the Gables!

Which team do you support?
Chelsea

Who is your childhood hero and why?
I used to play in midfield when I was a nipper, Paul 'The Guvnor' Ince was the boy back then.

How do you think England will fair in the world cup this summer? Who is your tip to win it?
If Rooney is on his game I think we'll win it. Other than that, a fiver on Holland might be worth a look.

Lastly, how has this season gone for you so far? what does the future hold for LSAFC, can we win it?
season has gone ok, scored a few goals. LSAFC can win BUSA every year, they will always have the quality and the psychological edge. The facilities and preparation are spot on so they have no excuse not to!

A huge thanks to Daley & Barks for this article.
